Featured by the New York Times as one of "4 Best Diet Tracking Apps,"
the NUTRITION GPA® is a fun and flexible way to develop
healthier eating habits

The Nutrition GPA is a wonder! It gently guides you to better choices in an easy, amusing way rather than imposing crazy limits on one’s eating. The GPA history makes keeping track very easy.

I have spent years tracking my food in an effort to lose weight. But I tended to track when I was “good” and not bothering when I was “bad.” I finally decided I wasn’t getting anywhere with that. With this approach, I’ve lost 4 pounds. I haven’t counted a calorie and I’m loving it!

I’ve wanted to eat healthier for a long time and always got overwhelmed and confused not really knowing where to start. This has been a super easy, accessible way to start.

I love that I don’t have to track everything, scour nutrition facts, etc. When I buy packaged foods, I look at the serving size and the ingredients and that’s it!

I have been tracking my food forever. But my diet was still very poor and high in sugar. Since using the Nutrition GPA I’ve cut my sugar and increased healthy foods. It didn’t change my average calorie intake, but has helped me drop a few pounds.

The GPA concept really helped me make a mental shift. One “good” day or one “bad” doesn’t matter nearly as much as how your choices add up over time.

  1. I just started using the app and like it a lot. One thought for an enhancement though. I’m not sure how long I’ll use it, but if I did wind up using it for a long time, it’d be great if the app could show my average GPA over different periods of time (e.g., last week, last month, last three months). Or maybe it could offer a user-customizable rolling average.

Without that, once you have a lot of data in there, any one good or bad day won’t really affect your score. But clearing your history means you lose all of that good (interesting?) data. The geek in me hates that. 🙂

    Just a thought!

    1. Hi, Beth. As a matter of fact, that’s a feature that we just added to the iOS version, and are still working on for the Android version. So I’m guessing you’re using the Android? One potential work around is to export your data before clearing your history. That way the “geek in you” can hang on to all of your data over time.

      1. Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I’m on Android. And I found the export option, just wanted it in the app too. Glad to hear it’s coming. 🙂

  2. I’m having trouble setting up an account for the Nutrition GPA app. I want to transfer my history to the new app and I can’t do that if I can’t create an account. I tried sending a message to the support address but it didn’t go through. I love the app and want to continue using it.

  3. I can’t create an account. I’m trying to do so via the landing page. I fill in the details, and click register, and nothing happens. I don’t get any email. I can “register” again with same details and I don’t get an error message, so I assume my previous entries have not been saved. Clicking the login button gets me to the landing page again, with no way to login.

If it wasn’t on the new podcast, I would assume the app/web page had been deleted, and the landing page was a leftover.

Tried both with windows and android via chrome (and firefox on android).

I couldn’t find an actual android app

    1. Hi Joan, I’d be happy to help. I’ll send you an email to the address you included in your comment.

      1. Hi, I have the same problem. As part of the 30 Day programme, I downloaded this in my iPhone but it doesn’t work (opening the app leads to a blank page). I tried doing it online but I cannot create an account (cannot check the box on “Agree” to terms and conditions). Help, please?

  4. Minica,
I love this new tool! I have been enjoying using it. The subtle reminder in the back of my mind to get a good score for the day has enhanced my focus on my food choices. The program is fun and has been a subject of many conversations with friends. I encourage everyone to try it.

  5. Loving this app, really helping shift away from calorie counting!

Question on the # serves vegetables – is it half a cup cooked or uncooked? For example, a meal I cook at home my start w 1cup raw veg but cooks down to much less

    Thanks

    1. For leafy greens like spinach or kale, 1 cup (Raw) is a serving. For hard vegetables like carrots and broccoli, it’s 1/2 cup and you can measure them raw or cooked.. Precision isn’t as important as consistency!

  6. Nice to meet you, Robin, I am a sports coach.
22/04/2022 – This would be a great opportunity for us…

Hi Foodvisor, my name is Robin Jacob, I created my startup 4 months ago (The Wasp Team).

I have created a sports coaching program to lose weight and/or gain muscle linked to a partner application that is not well known by the general public (Gymkee), and your field is related to mine (nutrition coaching), I will get straight to the point because I absolutely want this email to be relevant and quick so as not to waste your time, nor mine (it’s what we have most precious after all).

Would you accept to make a partnership (poster advertising on your application, video interview on YouTube, blog post placement, word of mouth, email list shooting,…)?
Because my goal is to get my first 100 subscribers before the end of 2022.

Whether by email, via sponsored articles, via a Youtube video, via word of mouth, I am open to any type of promotion…
I work via the win/win strategy.

I am ready to offer you 50% of the customer life-time value (Comission).

Here is my website so you can have a look at my products at your ease: Website
If you don’t agree, it doesn’t matter, I’m sure we can just exchange or share our network and get to know each other.

I wish you a nice day, professionally, Jacob, Robin.

  7. I’ve wondered if there’s a way to show answers to a specific question over time. I’ve been using the app for a long while now, on and off but I’m curious how specific habits have shifted over time. For example, my sense is I eat more legumes than before and eat fewer sweets, but sometimes it’s fun to see that improvement in a specific area. In another app I use (not related to nutrition), I’m sometimes surprised by what patterns appear that I didn’t notice in the day-to-day. I thought X was happening, but then it shows me the week/month of data, and really Y happened more.

    1. You can go back and click on any previously scored day to review your answers but there isn’t currently a way to see how you answer a given question over time. I love that idea though. I agree that it can be really interesting to see those patterns. Definitely something we’ll consider for future develpment.

  8. I just started using the app and have a couple of questions:
    1. Why are you not including fruits anywhere (example – I always thought the goal was 5 servings a day of fruit and vegetables)?
    2. Would peanuts count as a nut or as legume?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Sonia

Although fruit is nutritious, vegetable consumption tends to be more predictive of overall diet quality. But fruit can still indirectly affect your score. For example, enjoying a nice piece of fruit instead of a dessert can help you avoid losing points on Question 7.

And although peanuts are technically legumes, we count them as nuts in the Nutrition GPA. Unlike most legumes, (and like most nuts) peanuts contain a fair amount of fat.
