Fish and Prostate CancerNew research on fish consumption and prostate cancer risk has a lot of guys rethinking their daily fish oil capsule. Discovering that eating a lot of fish might actually increase your risk of disease feels a little like finding out that lettuce is fattening! In this week’s podcast (Fish Oil and Prostate Cancer), I try to put this latest research into perspective.

For those of you who don’t have prostates, here’s an answer to that common conundrum: Why am I always so hungry during my period?

Last week’s podcast tackles another perenniel dilemma: Does is make sense to take probiotics with antibiotics or do the drugs kill the beneficial bacteria as fast as you take them in?  As I discuss in the podcast, probiotics (or probiotic foods) do appear to be useful in this situation. One of my favorite ways to enjoy probiotic foods is in a yogurt-based smoothie. Here’s a quick video tutorial on how to make a nutritionally balanced smoothie.

From the mailbag, a question about dietary strategies for insulin resistance: Is it more important to limit fat or sugar in this situation?
