This week: green food powders, olympian recipes, and why your skin loves fat

Women's Day August 2012Green food powders like spirulina have been around forever but I recently got a slew of questions about them and whether they are really all they’re cracked up to be, prompting this week’s Nutrition Diva podcast on the nutritional pros and cons of spirulina.  In this week’s Nutrition Diva newsletter, I had some thoughts for a reader who decided to jump on the low-carb diet bandwagon and wondered why it didn’t seem to work as well as it should have.  On the Quick and Dirty blog, I have a quick-and-dirty tip for how to get your baby to love vegetables. (Hint: start early. Really early.)   And, in honor of the 2012 games, I have a few tips on how to eat like an Olympian on the What’s Cooking blog.

On newsstands (and e-newsstands) this month: My interview on the New Food Rules in Women’s Day Magazine and a nice interview on the crucial role of commonsense in today’s world of dietary anxiety in Today’s Diet and Nutrition Magazine. Finally, a short but sweet piece on why your skin needs fat to look its best, in this month’s Organic Spa Magazine.
